Titus 2:13-14

We wait for the blessed hope — the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

Proverbs 14:29

A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly.

Inspiration & Motivation From a Gifted Child & a Beautiful Mind!!!!

Brittany Washington. What does that name mean to you? It means everything to me. I've made myself into the person I am today . The path I have decided to follow helps continue to make this name.

Have you ever listened to a young person talk and just look...
at them in awe? So many people have little hope for my generation. Even I do. There's only a few 'kids' that actually want to make a difference, and let alone SHOW it.

From a young age I started receiving small academic awards. Little certificates in elementary school. It actually took me awhile to get 'serious' about school. In third grade I was I was switched out of regular to accelerated. I didn't understand how great that was. In fourth grade I was slacking, you know, in a child's mentality. It wasn't until my parent-teacher conference that I realized I can do way better. My teacher told my mom that I was bored in class and she wanted to skip me to fifth grade to challenge me, but they both decided I wasn't mature enough to handle it. To this day only a few teachers have successfully been able to challenge and stimulate my mind.

When I moved on to middle school I started off in a magnet program. I loved it. I was apart of the 'Tech Academy.' Now that I look back at it... It's kind of ironic. The first week of school I guess they had made a mistake and wanted to immediately switch me into honors, but somewhere in my heart... I didn't want to. I liked the idea of being in the 'Tech Academy.' I only stayed at the magnet school for a semester though. January 12, 2009 I was sent to Las Vegas, NV to live with my dad. I hated the idea of starting over, but as a child you don't have a say. When I got there... I started school a week later. No honors classes or anything. I felt really bored in the classes. I ended up getting in trouble a lot, slacking, and not giving my all.

My seventh grade and eighth grade year was better. I took my honors English and mathematics. I loved them. I was still bored though. I joined the science club there and it was fun. It didn't give me the knowledge that I so desperately craved though. My summer of 2010 I was apart of a program that sadly no longer exists. The program was for studying biotechnology. For five weeks a hundred plus children studied bacteria and viruses, did experiments and were even in the news for some of the work we did. This is where/when I realized my love for science and mathematics. I was in the math group at the program, we focused on the ways illnesses spread(rate). I loved every second of the program. I was offered to go in the summer of 2011, but I was unable to do to personal reasons.

8th grade awards: Student of the Month - my science teacher
Presidential Award - holding a 3.5 for all three years of middle school

High School. People made me think high school was going to be some challenge. Like everything is different. Well, it's not. It can be a challenge. For instance: my biology, English and my math teachers freshman year made it a little bit of a challenge. I had to work a little harder, and actually study. I liked the change. I liked knowing that my time was not being wasted by some snobby teacher that held more knowledge than I did.

Towards the end of my freshman year I started getting letters from colleges. Not just any colleges, but ones that I can't even explain how amazing they are. Rochester Institute of Technology. Brown. I didn't think I had the chance to be looked at by such schools. I can honestly say that the schools helped boost me and push me through my sophomore year. I took honors English, math, and history. I chickened out of the honors science. I believe in a challenge, but there's absolutely no reason to over do it. I felt like I had a little bit of a challenge in some areas... Not too much in others. It definitely kept me busy. I'd say I learned majority in my math class. I was taking Algebra II/Trigonometry. I loved the class and my teacher! He taught so much and it stuck. I understood it all and I loved it. My chemistry class, the teacher ran it like a honors class, yet it was regular. I enjoyed it. Together those were my all time favorite classes. I walked in happy and came out ecstatic. It was just a boost. It kept my love for math and science alive. It was amazing.

Sophomore year awards: National Honor Society for High School award- for academic achievements.

I want to start off and say everyone who said college is hard or different. You're a liar. I'm now a junior in high school and a freshman in college. The only differences I see is freedom and your professors don't belittle you. I love it. I love being treated for the way I act and not my age. I enjoy the conversations with the adults there and they don't know I'm a high school student.

I'm currently taking four college classes(12 credit hours) and two high school classes(honors). It's kind of stressful, but I like it. The challenge isn't the classes itself, but timing. I'm glad my time management skills are off the charts.

Everyday that passes by it gets even more stressful. Afraid of failing is a giant fear of mine and I honestly don't feel like I get that little boost of confidence that my peers receive. It's one thing I feel like I don't have. It's one thing to tell someone you're proud of them, another to show it. I just feel like people have started to accept that I can achieve these goals and have stopped giving me the little compliments that would help a little bit.

Well, this is me. My name is Brittany Washington. My majors are Biomedical Engineering and Psychology. My goal is to provide people with cheaper/better medical devices. For those of you who don't know Biomedical Engineering it is the development/critiquing of medical instruments. I would build, give advice on, and test devices for doctors/hospitals. Psychology is just something for fun.

Thank You for taking your time to read about me.
